A Comparison of Parallel and Sequential Implementationsof a Multisensor Multitarget Tracking
نویسندگان
چکیده
Parallel and sequential implementations of the Multi-sensor Joint Probabilistic Data Association (MSJPDA) tracking algorithm are analyzed and compared. The sequential implementation is shown to be exponentially less computationally complex as the number of sensors increases. Simulation results suggest that the sequential method also yields better tracking performance on the average. This is primarily due to the fact that better ltered estimates are available after processing each sensor's data. Thus, while sequential and parallel implementations are equivalent in multisensor ltering when no data association routine is needed, the sequential implementation gives superior tracking performance when data association is required.

متن کاملMultisensor Multitarget Mixture Reduction Algorithms for Tracking
A single-sensor single-target Mixture Reduction (MR) data association algorithm is extended for use in multisensor multitarget tracking situations. MR is extended for tracking an arbitrary number of targets using an arbitrary number of sensors under the assumption that the sensor measurement errors are independent across sensors. Like the single-sensor single-target MR algorithm, which gives be...
متن کامل"Statistics 102" for Multisource-Multitarget Detection and Tracking
This tutorial paper summarizes the motivations, concepts and techniques of finite-set statistics (FISST), a systemlevel, “top-down,” direct generalization of ordinary single-sensor, single-target engineering statistics to the realm of multisensor, multitarget detection and tracking. Finite-set statistics provides powerful new conceptual and computational methods for dealing with multisensor-mul...
متن کاملApplication of the EM algorithm for the multitarget/multisensor tracking problem
An important problem in surveillance and reconnaissance systems is the tracking of multiple moving targets in cluttered noise environments using outputs from a number of sensors possessing wide variations in individual characteristics and accuracies. A number of approaches have been proposed for this multitarget/multisensor tracking problem ranging from reasonably simple, though ad-hoc, schemes...
متن کاملNon-simulation Performance Prediction Methods for Different Implementations of a Multisensor Fusion Algorithm
Non-simulation techniques for comparison of multisensor probabilistic data association lters are developed and are used to compare tracking performance of sequential and parallel implementations of the algorithm. The non-simulation techniques are shown to accurately predict the average superior performance of the sequential implementation in terms of RMS position error and track lifetime which ...
